Privacy Policy
Beet is an iPhone app published by Olli Labs ("we"). It reads packaged food labels from photos and scores the ingredients. There is no account, no advertising and no in-app analytics. This policy explains what leaves your phone, who receives it and why.
On your device
Your goals, your allergens, your scan history and the photos you scanned stay in the app on your device. We do not receive them, and deleting the app deletes them.
When you scan a label
Before the first scan, the app asks for your permission to send label photos for analysis. If you allow it, each scan sends:
- the label photo, resized to about 1024 pixels,
- your goals and allergens, so the result can be sorted for you,
- your device language, so the result is written in it,
- an anonymous app user ID created by RevenueCat (see Subscriptions).
The photo goes to our server, which runs on Cloudflare Workers, and from there to an AI model through OpenRouter, Inc. The model reads the ingredients and returns the analysis. We do not store the photo or the analysis on our server. OpenRouter and the model provider process the request under their API terms to produce the answer.
To stop abuse, our server keeps a count of readable scans per anonymous app user ID and per day. Unreadable photos do not count. Your IP address is used for short-lived rate limiting and may appear in Cloudflare's technical logs, which Cloudflare keeps for a short period for security.
Feedback
If you answer "Not really" to "Enjoying Beet?" and send us a note, we store the text you wrote with your anonymous app user ID and the time. We use it only to improve Beet.
Subscriptions
Purchases are made through Apple's App Store; we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat, Inc. to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives the anonymous app user ID, your purchase history and basic technical data such as app version and device model.
What we do not do
We do not show ads, use the advertising identifier (IDFA), track you across other companies' apps or websites, or sell or share your data for advertising.
How long we keep data
Scan counts and feedback are kept while Beet is offered, unless you ask us to delete them. Photos and analyses are not kept on our server at all.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or Türkiye's KVKK), you can ask to access or delete the data we hold about you, or object to its use. Because there is no account, we only know your anonymous app user ID; write to us and we will help you find and delete the related records.
Children
Beet is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its date.
